The Scottish Fair Trade Forum’s Countdown Campaign is now underway in the build up to to 2012, when the Forum will submit its bid for Scotland to be recognised as a Fair Trade Nation. The campaign involves 365 days of pledges to support Fair Trade products, with as many people and organisations as possible helping to raise awareness of Fair Trade in Scotland.

During Fairtrade Fortnight, the Oban Fairtrade Steering Group held a ‘Fairtrade Fashion Fix’ evening in Taynuilt Village Hall, including style makeovers using fairtrade cotton clothing, FT wine and baking and FT accessories stalls. 

The Group also held a Celebration for International Women’s Day in partnership with Women@Work, which included Fairtrade tea and coffee, fun workshops on fairtrade cotton & the fashion industry and a chance to try FT clothing. Fairtrade Fortnight ended at the Tesco store on Saturday 12th March with a discussion about Fairtrade in Argyll and Bute between Alan Reid M.P., Kenny MacCallum – Assistant Manager, Councillors Elaine Robertson and Alison Hay, Olwen Rowlands of OXFAM, other members of Tesco staff and of Oban Fairtrade Steering Group.
